I have been trying to figure out how to make a cloth label to put on the back of my quilts.  Some time the far distant future someone may find my quilt and wonder who, what, and where?  Quilters use labels on their quilts to provide the answer.

Cutting with Scissors and Other Sharp Instruments

When you are cutting with scissors, look where you are going not at the scissors. 






When you go around a curve, move the paper not the scissors. 

The same for cutting with a knife...look ahead not at the knife!

It's like driving a car.  Look at the road not the steering wheel.

Threading a Needle

When threading a needle-hold the needle over a white piece of fabric.  Look through the needle to the fabric.  Cut the thread at an angle and thread through the eye.  The eye is easier to see and thus the thread goes in easier.  


When threading crewel embroidery thread, cut a piece of paper the width of the eye of the needle.  Fold in half and place thread inside fold.  Slip fold into eye and pull through.  Easy, easy, easy as pie!

When threading a needle for quilting, thread several needles at a time on the spool.  Then, you don't have to stop each time and thread.  It takes a few minutes, but worth your time.
